AngloGold Ashanti as one of the world’s foremost companies in gold exploration, mining, and marketing, has chosen EHS Data as their environmental management supplier. The company holds a portfolio of operations and projects on four continents and has a worldwide exploration programme working across the full spectrum of the mining value chain while concerning themselves with the impact of their activities on the diverse communities and environments in which they operate.

As a part of AngloGold Ashanti’s management programme for environmental issues at its Sunrise Dam and Tropicana mine sites, many different types of monitoring data are collected, verified and managed. The concerns about both short and long term impact on the ecosystems in which the mine sites work and the desire to comply with all regulations lead AngloGold Ashanti to investigate implanting an environmental data management system.
In 2009 Sunrise Dam in Western Australia approached EHS Data about the possibility of implementing a system onsite for the management of various types of environmental monitoring data.
Following the enquiry the MonitorPro Enterprise Software was installed onsite in December 2009 and followed up with training.
The Tropicana Gold Project is located 330 kilometres east northeast of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia with head offices in Perth. Tropicana conducted their own independent review based on site specific needs and approached EHS Data about installing a separate MonitorPro Enterprise system onsite and at the head o and at the head office. This system went live in July 2012.

During 2010 and following a review of the market, Sunrise Dam began the process of using MonitorPro to manage obligations within the site by using 5 licences of MonitorPro – Desktop. After the success at Sunrise Dam, Tropicana saw the benefit of using MonitorPro Enterprise to manage monitoring data and environmental obligations. They implemented their own system in 2012.
Tropicana have developed to a full MonitorPro Enterprise system and uses the system in a variety of different ways depending on the specific users role.

MonitorPro – Desktop is used as the administrative tool allowing for detailed review of data with high functionally. The key features which assist in data management at both Anglo Gold Ashanti sites are as follows:

Tropicana have set up MonitorPro Web for everyday usage by staff and provide an overview for the managers. MonitorPro Web has a variety of features that allow for managers and executives to gain an overview and summaries of the organisations position. These include:
