MP-Field by MonitorPro: Easily Manage all Field Data Collection in One Single Application
Accurate and robust data collection in the field is essential to environmental data management and ensuring a site’s environmental compliance. At worst, this is managed via pen and paper. At the same time, some EDMS offer the ability to collect and manage environmental data, but many require the purchase of additional hardware, adding both cost and making processes unnecessarily complicated. MonitorPro offers all the functionality needed for environmental data collection in one easy-to-use, device-agnostic application: MP-Field.
MonitorPro: MP-Field
MP-Field can be used on all common smartphones and tablets with a modern web browser and on any PC, laptop or Mac. No installation is required and access to a database’s real-time monitoring requirements are accessible whenever the user has an internet connection. Even without an internet connection a downloaded Visit can still be entered, validated and uploaded when an internet connection is available again, meaning even at remote sites with poor internet access data collection is not affected.
MP-Field will indicate the sampling locations where monitoring is required and what sampling and analysis should be completed. It even keeps a tally of data entered, identifying where monitoring has been completed and where there is work outstanding. It also allows technicians to capture data directly without having to transcribe from notebooks or other devices later or by another user which can result in data input errors.
Offline? Not a problem
Access to the internet in the field is not an issue, MP-Field can also work offline, caching the required data once the Visits have been downloaded. Even when offline it also still provides real-time data validation in the field, highlighting unusual or data above compliance limits.
Site Visits
Site Monitoring Visits are created in the MonitorPro Monitoring Scheduler, once schedules are created, they auto-generate Visits. Visits require certain locations to be visited, and Variables measured. Downloaded Visits can be viewed at the MP-Field homepage which will show the date Scheduled and the percentage of completion.
Once the required Visits have been downloaded, no internet connection is required until after the Visits have been completed and the data is ready to be imported into the MonitorPro database. When the data arrives in the database, it is marked against the Visit, and the percentage complete updated.
Data Entry
When the Visit is selected a Visit summary will be displayed including:
- Visit name.
- The Sample Points.
- The Visit and Sample Point percentage complete.
- Any applied Sample Types.
- Any applied Sample References.
- Sample Status.
This makes finding what needs to be collected much simpler and quicker than using notebooks or paper documents where these details need to be found and may be difficult to do in adverse weather conditions.
Barcode Details
Sample container barcodes can be easily scanned or manually entered in MP-Field, these will then be put through the Monitoring Schedules chains of custody and if required the eCOC process with ALS.
Data Validation
Data entry has an auto validation feature based on compliance limits and physical maximum and minimums, which are pre-set within MonitorPro. If a user tries to enter data that breaches a physical limit, MP-Field will give a warning message and will not let the data be entered.
Any compliance limits are also highlighted to the user in the field. Unlike physical limits, breaches can be entered into the system and are just highlighted for information.
Additional measures to ensure correct data is entered is using fixed answers and drop-down lists.
Include Additional Data at a Sample Point
A photograph can be taken using the camera of the device MP-Field is being used on and uploaded at a sample location.
A user can also easily add a sample duplicate or additional analysis whilst in the field.
