Simplifying Environmental Reporting and Data Import for Mayfair Gold, Ontario, Canada

The Fenn-Gib gold project in Ontario Canada is currently under development by Canadian Gold developer Mayfair Gold. Mayfair Gold is focused on ensuring responsible development in the area and as a result wanted an Environment Database Management System to help with both it’s environmental permit requirements and to ensure transparency and trust is maintained with stakeholders (Mayfair Gold, https://mayfairgold.ca/).

Additionally, since the site is still in the development phase Mayfair Gold wanted the EDMS to be able to simplify the import of geochemistry data from various sources with different analytical methods.  MonitorPro provided the solution to both requirements.

MonitorPro's Conditional Alias Functionality

The Mayfair Gold site is currently in the development and exploration phase, with large volumes of geochemistry data being collected which needs importing into MonitorPro. With the analysis of rock samples collected at drill site, the amount of data is vast, but also complicated in terms of the formats provided by labs and the differing analysis methods used.

Mayfair Gold needed a system that could both simplify the import of this data into their database and standardise the variables names and values.  MonitorPro provides Conditional Alias functionality which provides users with a means of ensuring complex geochemistry variables differentiated by test method can be mapped and imported against the correct variables within the system.

These aliases, once created by the user, will automatically be applied to future data on import. In addition to differentiating by test method, Conditional Aliasing can also be used to differentiate variables based other supplementary metadata provided by the lab which is not contained in the variable name itself.

MP-Field for Biodiversity Monitoring

To simplify their biodiversity monitoring on site Mayfair Gold opted to utilise MonitorPro’s digital field application MP-Field.  In addition to collecting typical environmental field data, MP-Field allows Mayfair Gold to also record wildlife observations.  Details collected include, where the wildlife was seen, behaviour and whether they are a provincially or federally listed species.

Site points can be easily navigated to through MP-Field’s inbuilt GPS feature, missed data points are clearly highlighted, and the percentage of site visit completion can be tracked both in MP-Field and MonitorPro.  Data input errors are reduced through the use of digital data input and utilisation of drop-down menus and date pickers and all data is automatically uploaded into their database removing the need for manual data input or upload at a later date.

Compliance Grids for CCME and PWQO Objectives

Mayfair Gold must adhere to both Canadian Council or Ministers of the Environment (CCME) and Provincial Water Quality Objectives (PWQO) compliance limits. These limits are set up in MonitorPro ensuring that email alerts are automatically sent out if a breach occurs.  These values can also be utilised throughout the system, including in dashboards, exports, and graphing features.

Streamlined Environmental Reporting and Auditability with MonitorPro

By implementing MonitorPro and MP-Field, Mayfair Gold has created a fully auditable system ensuring background data has been recorded prior to being fully operational, which also streamlines both their environmental data and biodiversity monitoring at the Fenn-Gib project.

The use of Conditional Aliasing has simplified the import and standardisation of complex geochemistry data, reducing manual processing and improving data consistency. Combined with MP-Field, MonitorPro provides Mayfair Gold with a solid platform to support regulatory compliance, efficiently manage their environmental data, and maintain transparency with stakeholders as the project progress through development.
